“Now is when” is the title of the photographic exhibition by Suzette Mitchell on abstractions of Buddhist monks and nuns. The title is a reflection on “being in the present” which is the focus of Buddhism. The appearance of monks and nuns provide an extraordinary beauty, tranquility and focus. Suzette’s photography aims to capture this aesthetic, from the fold of their robes, the holding of their prayer beads, the lines of their faces: the equanimity of their lives.

Often beauty lies more in the detail than the whole. The images of this exhibition are a focus on simplicity to create an atmosphere for contemplation, meditation and inspiration.
