Ngo Ba Cong worked at the National Institute of Culture and Art of Vietnam (2015-2019) and is currently teaching at the Faculty of Preschool Education at Hanoi National University of Education. He defended his doctoral thesis at the Vietnam National Institute of Culture and Arts Studies in 2020.

Ngo Ba Cong’s artistry is a captivating dialogue between modern visual sensibilities and the timeless symbols of traditional Vietnamese culture. Masterfully navigating diverse mediums including oil, acrylic, silk, and Dó paper, he is particularly renowned for his innovative approach to lacquer painting, where he rejects the flat surface of standard techniques in favor of a unique embossed, textured relief style. His creative focus draws deep inspiration from native folklore—featuring rhythmic depictions of the 12 zodiac animals, pastoral buffalo herders, rural Northern landscapes, and intimate portraits of women and family life. Guided by his rigorous academic research, Cong seamlessly infuses each creation with deep cultural symbolism and a rich, multi-dimensional texture, creating a distinct contemporary identity that resonates with both local heritage and global art collectors.
