The Journey into Art

Artist Ngụy Đình Hà (born in 1979 in Bac Giang City) graduated from the Pedagogy Faculty, Vietnam University of Fine Arts in 2003, and currently lives and works in Hanoi. As a member of the Vietnam Fine Arts Association, he stands out among contemporary Vietnamese artists with a pictorial language rich in compassion, love, and profound empathy for humanity—especially ethnic minority communities in the highlands. His paintings are neither intense nor melancholic; rather, they form a gentle yet powerful symphony of emotions, always directed toward the beautiful, kind values in life.

During his studies, Ngụy Đình Hà undertook a two-month internship in Ha Giang, where his love for ethnic minority people blossomed vividly. After graduating in 2003, he chose to pursue his main creative path: oil paintings on canvas depicting ethnic people. He delved deeper into techniques while exploring their people, costumes, and culture in greater detail. In addition, he creates works about his childhood homeland—rice fields, buffaloes, bamboo groves—and the ancient streets of Hanoi, his current home.

People often comment: “His paintings are so full of color.” In his view, each color represents a human element: Blue, Red, Purple, Yellow, Black, White… When standing alone, they are distinctly different, but when blended together, they create absolute harmony—just as people connect in life.
