HANOI, 17/10 2026 – The Ambassador of Canada to Vietnam, visited Sac Tam 2026, an exhibition celebrating Vietnamese lacquer art and agarwood, at the Front Hall of the Thai Hoc precinct within the Temple of Literature – Imperial Academy in Hanoi. The Ambassador also visited Nguyen Art 31A Van Mieu, the first location of Nguyen Art Gallery.
The Ambassador Explores Vietnamese Lacquer Art at Sac Tam 2026
During the visit, the Ambassador viewed the artworks on display and learned about the traditions of Vietnamese lacquer painting and the cultural values conveyed through the exhibition.
Now in its second edition at the Temple of Literature, Sac Tam 2026 brings together 26 lacquer paintings by 19 artists, including Do Khai, alongside a collection of agarwood presented by Tram Tue. Lacquer takes shape through many layers of paint, coating and polishing, and here it is placed in dialogue with agarwood culture and the heritage setting of the Temple of Literature. The exhibition is organized by the Temple of Literature – Imperial Academy Cultural and Scientific Activities Center in cooperation with Nguyen Art Gallery and Tram Tue, to mark the 950th anniversary of the Imperial Academy and 20 years of Nguyen Art Gallery.
A Visit to Nguyen Art 31A Van Mieu
The Ambassador continued to Nguyen Art 31A Van Mieu, just steps from the Temple of Literature. Established in 2006, the gallery presents original Vietnamese paintings by emerging and renowned artists, including lacquer paintings, oil, watercolor and mixed media works, and offers visitors the chance to speak directly with its art advisors.
Connecting Vietnamese Art With International Audiences
For Nguyen Art Gallery, welcoming the Ambassador of Canada is a meaningful moment in its ongoing efforts to introduce Vietnamese art and cultural heritage to audiences around the world. It follows the visit of the President of Panama and the First Lady to Sac Tam 2026 on October 6, and reflects the cultural exchange between Vietnam and Canada, whose diplomatic relations date back to 1973.
