Henry trained in fine arts at the University of Industrial Fine Arts, graduating in 1997. In 2006 he opened Nguyen Art Gallery, and it has since grown into one of the best-known galleries in Hanoi.
As an appraiser he authenticates original Vietnamese works, lacquer and silk among them, and reads their technique, symbolism and cultural value. As a collector he has spent years finding emerging artists and giving them exhibition space. On the tour, all three come together in one conversation, held in fluent English.

A Hanoi art tour is a guided visit to galleries, museums or art spaces in the city, led by someone who knows the artists and the history behind the works. It is a more personal way to see Hanoi’s art and culture than a standard sightseeing day. Ours takes place at Nguyen Art Gallery and lasts two hours, with Henry Le as your guide.
Most visitors combine heritage sites such as the Temple of Literature and the Old Quarter with a museum or gallery visit. A gallery tour like ours adds what many itineraries skip: time with an artist and art appraiser, and the story of how Vietnamese history shaped its art. Nguyen Art Gallery is close to the Temple of Literature, so the two fit easily into the same morning or afternoon.
Yes. This two-hour art and culture tour takes place at Nguyen Art Gallery on Van Mieu Street. You are welcomed with a drink and a short briefing, walk through four art rooms with Henry Le, then spend about an hour talking with him over Vietnamese tea or coffee at the Art Space. You leave with a gift from the gallery.
The tour takes about two hours. The morning tour starts at 9:00 AM and the afternoon tour at 2:00 PM. Roughly 15 minutes go to the welcome and briefing, 40 to 45 minutes to the four art rooms, and around 60 minutes to the conversation.
Henry places each painting in the story of Vietnamese modern art. You hear how artists lived and kept working through the ups and downs of the twentieth century, along with stories behind the works that you will not find in a guidebook.
